The Holistic Approach to Nursing
the professional method of patient care for many years now. Nursing at the Jewish Hospital follows this approach. It facilitates an individual resource fostering planning of nursing, which, concerning patient care, takes activities of everyday life into consideration. The holistic approach to nursing is a quality-oriented, effective and economical care that is carried out by well-educated and flexible employees for the benefit of our patients.
The nursing service is the largest occupational group at the hospital. The nursing and nursingauxiliary personnel does not only work at people's sickbeds, but also provides crucial servicesin other areas of the hospital, be it the operating room, the intensive care unit or theoutpatient's department.
The nursing staff is a connecting link between the individual, his or her disease and the numerous medical facilities of the hospital and the medical institutions outside the hospital, with which both the patient and the nursing staff come into contact at admittance to or discharge from the Jewish Hospital. The nursing staff aids the recovery andwell-being of the patients by individual and psychosocial care as mediators, listeners, and as nursing attendants.
Education, training, and further education
Our employees acquired their professional foundation during their training as nurses orauxiliary nurses at the Jewish Hospital, which is carried out in cooperation with the Akademie für Gesundheit e.V. (Academy of Health). The staffs nourish their qualification by continuousfurther education.
Quality of Nursing
The nursing care is based on a nursing principle and on guidelines according to certified quality standards to ensure that all staff members that are involved in care are equallyqualified and informed. Each employee is obligated to regularly further his or her education. Ward rounds, in which the nursing process and the performance are quality checked,examine the effects of nursing care and the patient's satisfaction with the care.
Nursing management
The nursing service of the Jewish Hospital Berlin with its qualified and motivated staff actively participates in the treatment of patients and thereby helps to aid or cope appropriately, if possible, with the recovery or the illnesses' process. The administration of the completenursing care lies with the management of nursing. It is responsible for the nursing concept,assignment of personnel, and cost-effectiveness of the nursing sector, always according tothe objectives of the hospital.
It is supported by the ward administrations within the departments. Both the heads of the departments as well as the nursing director and thedeputy director are available for consultations for all patients and relatives at any time.
